yet another tedious post about my back and general health

So I've been doing doing the back therapy for a number of weeks now. Generally things have been better. I was feeling pretty good but then last week the building was very cold and I could feel my back just tighten up. The leg pain has faded a lot. I feel it sometimes when I go to stand up - it can be excruciating. But, it doesn't happen all the time so I never know when standing up is going to be something I regret doing. My lower back is uncomfortable - tired and achy but not unbearable.

Besides the cold, I can feel it tighten up as soon as I am in a stressful situation. This is something I'm going to have to work on. The weeks keep ticking away at school getting closer to the end of the year and a chance to relax.

The change in diet has resulted in a loss of 21 pounds since the beginning of March. It's encouraging. Of course, I cringe every time I go to the grocery store. How can 4-5 plastic grocery bags come out to nearly or even over $100 each time?

Why is America overweight? Food made from refined sugar and flour is cheap while fresh fruits and veggies are expensive.

The interesting thing about the Zone Diet is that I've stopped craving food the way I used to. Food used to be such a social thing where I'd spend the day thinking about what I was going to eat for dinner. I don't do that anymore. In fact I'm not even all that excited about food and yet when I sit down to eat, I'm not disappointed. It always tastes great and I really enjoy all the flavors as I'm eating. I'm even enjoying cooking the food I'm going to eat.I'm not sure if this is a side effect of not eating all the sugar and carbs via pasta, rice and bread or just a mindset change. Either way, not having food cravings has made sticking to the plan easier than I expected.
